On a Roman Holiday

We started our weekend off by watching a movie in the park.
None of us had ever been to an RSM event, so we weren't sure what to expect.
There weren't many people, and I am pretty sure we were the youngest group of people by far.
Allison participated in some movie trivia...representing our group well!

The crowd was small...which kind of made it just right.
We had to wait for the sun to go down, after we picnicked, we sat around and did some people watching.

Even though I didn't know what to expect I loved it. I will definitely do it again.

I heart my Hammock

All summer I have wanted a pool.
An above ground pool. The kind you can buy at Target (or dare I say...Walmart)
Then I was reading one of my favorite blogs, Design Crush, and saw this photo...doesn't it look magnificent?

So I sent it to my husband, and explained how much I would love for him to recreate this photo our backyard. How much I would love to read a book every Sunday while he was watching football. Or lay around on my day off.

So then the decision time came. He said I could get a pool or I could get a hammock.

I could not get both.

So I chose a hammock (much to the dismay of all of my friends who come over to my house when it is 90 outside and the air conditioning isn't on). And we went to the store and bought one...and honestly since we have set up I haven't had more than 5 minutes to lay in it. However, we are half way there to recreating the picture. I just need a down comforter, and a large tree.

The Difference Between Me and My Husband: Part 2

The difference between me and my husband is...
the other day when we were in Target and I saw the school supplies I insisted we go look at them and my heart immediately filled with:
1. Excitement
2. Anticipation
3. Jealousy for all those kids who will be buying school supplies soon

the other day when we were in Target and he saw the school supplies he looked at them with disbelief and his heart immediately filled with:
1. Anger
2. Hatred towards Target for doing that to kids already

The Difference Between Me and My Husband

The difference between me and my husband is...
he would like to fall asleep every night to Sports Center, replays of NFL games from years and years ago, America's Game and golf highlights.

I would like to fall asleep to Sabrina the Teenage Witch, Degrassi: The Next Generation and What I Like About You.

And We Frolicked Around in Our Summer Skin

After a very long 4th of July weekend Jonathan and I headed up to LA to see Death Cab for Cutie at the Hollywood Bowl. It was a near perfect night. We sat in the last section possible, but couldn't have been happier. In our section W (for Witt) seats we sat out the in the beautiful summer night and took in all the people around us. I smiled and sang along to every song, and both of us looked at each other a dozen times and said "I love this song".

And then the fireworks came during the last song, and it was the perfect ending to our evening. I can enjoy a good fireworks show, but don't really usually care too much about them. This fireworks show (that went along with song) was amazing, and I automatically became "that" girl who takes photos of fireworks.

That's What She Said

Today...in between eating lunch at Bagels and Brew and perusing Target (two very American activities)...I saw the Oscar Mayer Wienermobile. I have never seen it before, and when I got out of the car and walked over to it - my voice hit new octaves of excitement!

Then...of course...we had to jump in front of it!

My 4th of July morning as a St. Hilaire...

Last year Katie asked me to go to the Lake Forest 4th of July Parade with her, but I overslept and missed it. So this year when Ange told me she goes every year and her parents enter a float - I knew I needed to be there. So I woke up this morning and headed over to Ange's house, and all remaining members of the family (among some others) not on the float loaded up and walked to the parade route. We were quite a site with our wagon full of blankets and snacks, and rolling cooler full of drinks for a 1 hour parade.
I soon learned that although watching the parade is entertaining the real reason you go is to wait for the entered St. Hilaire float to pass by.

So we waited...

and waited...

and waited...

Ange said as soon as the float comes around the corner we had to get up and run over to be closer, so we stood up and waited.

The first view of the float...including Troy Aikman on the very top!

Luke got promoted from videographer to driver this year - and fit the part so well!

A lot of people on the float!

This is Ange's whole family running to take more pictures of the float.

Ange excited about the success of seeing the float.

Our work here is done. As soon as we saw the float we packed up all of our stuff and walked back home.

Wearing Our Thinking Caps

Today (due to the looming extra day off in the week just hours away from us, as well as it obviously being summer outside) we have taken a few breaks to get all our sillies out before putting our heads down and going back to work.

With that said my day has consisted of a Nerf Wars and wearing hats.

Here's Your One Chance Fancy...

Jonathan sent me this blog that teaches you how to make Fancy Fast Food. I don't know if I am brave enough to try any of the recipes and serve them, but I love the idea.
